14

I am now 14. And therefore, obviously, more awesome than I was before I was 14.

The party was very fun. I am really bad at bowling. But it was fun even though I am very bad at bowling. There was pizza and ice cream cake.

My friends know me so well. They all got me books and index cards & pens. Also washi tape. Awesome.

On my actual birthday, we went bike shopping in the morning. Then we went to PF Chang's for lunch where I had crispy honey chicken and an amazing dessert that had peanut butter in it. Afterwards we went back to the bike place to pick the bike up. When we got home we went for a bike ride.

After riding it a few times, I decided to name her Phyllis. Like in the Flavia de Luce books, Flavia's bike is named Gladys. I think it's so cute.

I invited my friend Lindsey over to help me rearrange my books, since the current arrangement didn't allow space for additions, and I know that she is the kind of awesome person who would actually want to do that.

We had already deshelved my other books and were trying to decide how to organize all of them (we went for alphabetical by the first letter of the author's last name). I picked up one of the new books and said, "hey, I haven't even smelled these yet!" and proceeded to sniff them. "I think this one smells the best," I said, setting the book down.

"Let me smell," said Lindsey. After a moment she said, "I agree. Fahrenheit 451 definitely smells the best."

We laughed. We are such dorks. I love that.

Needless to say, now I am reading Fahrenheit 451.

I quite like it so far.

Anyway.

Thanks, guys.

I had an awesome birthday.

Some Stuff

So, as you may know...

I'm 13 NOW!!! I really can't believe it. But it was seriously really THE BEST birthday I've ever had. My aunt and uncle were very very nice and generous and let me have the party at their house and shoot my bow in their yard. There was tubing and boat rides and pizza and awesome.

Among some of the many awesome things I was given, I recieved an archery target (which is also nerf-gun-dart-compatible!), some chocolate, some awesome stuff, and some very very VERY nice cards, notably the one from Bree which was so sweet it made me cry. All of them were very nice. and all of EVERYTHING and all of the awesome that happened.

There were loads of pictures (many of them very good) taken which I will try to get somehow on here soon.

*****

Other than that there's one thing I would like to share. Actually probably more because I keep on thinking! I don't know why it's like somebody put a brain IN MY HEAD!

Okay so I just finished this book awhile ago. The Fault in Our Stars. Omigosh it was the best book that I've read in awhile. (NO SPOILERS, I promise.) It might probably not interest you since the majority of people who read my blog are like, not my age. And a fair warning: there is some profanity. Anyway, it's about Hazel, a girl who has cancer and she meets Augustus Waters, with whom she promptly falls in love and she worries that she is a grenade. Augustus uses his 'Wish' he got from when he had cancer to take Hazel on a trip to Amsterdam. The ending of the book is perfect. The middle is perfect. The beginning is perfect. It's funny. It's a good book.

Whatever you do if you want to read it, DO NOT read the Wikipedia article. It WILL SPOIL THE WHOLE THING. Trust me, I know, because I DID read the Wikipedia article and I wish I hadn't.

Anyway: good book, don't read the wikipedia article; awesome birthday; and my penpal Isabel from England would like for me to mention her on my blog. Hey, Isabel!

Happy Birthday

Because it's always someone's birthday, right? God made you and you should celebrate the day that you were born and that you know God is going to use you to touch outher people's lives if you give your life to him. Just sayin'.

The School I Love

So it's Tuesday.

On Monday it was my mom's birthday.  It was great.  Grandma Linny got to come down and visited and babysat while mom, dad, & some of their grownup friends went out to eat.  We got her some cooking utensils and I am struggling to knit her a scarf without giving up because I am tired of the sick green color I so poorly chose.  Grandma taught Abigail how to knit, too.  Yay.  Anyhoot, we had tiramisou (I doubt that's spelled correctly, the spell check is confusing!) and it was a great time.  Just for the record, I made the best birthday card in the history.  Happy birthday, momma!

So at school I had/HAVE a bunch of catching up to do.  Especially, well, everything.  In math there is a new POW (problem of the week)  and a bunch of jumbled up Pascal and Fibonacci.  The Declaration of Independence keeps poking it's way back into the curriculum.  And all of the writing assignments that have piled up.  Gee, I wish I could write this good in my homework journal!  I guess I'm better at blogging.  Maybe it's just cause I actually want to do this.

And the Junior Achievement people came.  I seriously thought that they were just off of work (they're volunteers [I think]) because they have these uniforms that look like the scrubs that nurses wear.  Or maybe they were nurses.  Who knows?

Lobby Hobby

Lobby Hobby, no, that's not it.  Blobby Hobby?  Hobby Lobby.  That's it.  Okay, so we went to Hobby Lobby today.

I had $25ish and I got some yarn and knitting needles.  Hooray!  The other day I finished a scarf that I'm giving Abigail for her birthday and today I started one for my mom for her birthday.  I should of made hers first, though, because her birthday is on Monday and Abigail's is on the 13th.  I'll have to give it to her late. (Don't worry, dad, I already told her.  I think maybe I shouldn't of?  Oh man!) Well, I guess it's better late than not at all.  Bummer.

I really need to work on standing up straight.  Momma says I have the hump, the slouch, and the pooch.  Dang it, she's right!  Don't you ever get tired of being right, mom?  Bah humbug.  Oh, wait.  I can't say that, it's not Christmastime anymore.  So I guess it's just bah?
