Random: thoughts, writing, etc. & miscellaneous

Very excited about going camping to the Smoky Mountains! We're having a final planning meeting on monday and leaving friday! It really snuck up on me! I know to some this may sound crazy, but i can't wait to pack. I love packing and getting everything tucked in with room to spare, especially, and getting everything organized. It really makes me happy.

The pride fest in the park by us is this weekend. Ughhhhhhh.

One of my best friends ever ever ever, Katherine, is moving to New Mexico. While I am really really really sad sad sad, I am excited excited excited to have one last sleepover this week. It will be fun fun fun. The good thing is, they're moving back to St. Louis in 3 years! What a relief! Maybe we can go to high school together. Yeah, this could work.

Piano lessons.

Pool.

Visiting Aunt R & Uncle D's new house on the lake.

I have a tan line from my watch.

Glow in the dark nail polish.

Smushed fireflies.

Summery.

Definitons of Summer 2

Bare feet run through sprinklers. And bare feet run outside. And we swing.

We go to aunt's house and play outside. And uncle takes us for boat rides on the lake RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEIR HOUSE! We love their new house!

We go to the library and check out comic books. Comic books that maybe have anything to do with the Avengers. Which is like all of them. The movie was awesome!!! Really super duper really awesome fantastic really. Like I would go watch it right now. I would be up until 11:30 but who cares? I don't care who you are, if you like superheroes, are opposed to violence or have anything against movies, GO SEE IT RIGHT NOW. Seriously, it was that awesome.

Neighbors come out when they hear us outside. And the grown ups chat, the kids swing and kick their shoes off into the bushes or whatever, and the mosquitoes nearly eat us alive but it is almost always worth it.

The pool is frequently visited and friends almost always come with. And we have sleepovers and gee, I love this:

SUMMER! Mmmm, I drink in every second of cookouts and swimming and friends and family and ahh I love it.

AND Next week, we finally get to go on that camping trip to the smoky mountains! I am really excited for that. Anyway I could go on like this for quite some time but its getting late anddd.....

Definitons of Summer

sum-mer [suhm-er]
noun
1.
the season between spring and autumn, in the Northern Hemisphere from the summer solstice to the autumnal equinox, and in the Southern Hemisphere from the winter solstice to the vernal equinox.
2.
the period comprising the months of June, July, and August in the U.S., and from the middle of May to the middle of August in Great Britain.
3.
a period of hot, usually sunny weather
Summer means that there are frequent trips to everywhere: grandma's, the pool, the store, the swingset, the freezer (for ice cream)...
Summer means the Virginia Barbecue, which it not really a barbecue, it's more of a fair. There are rides, vendors of "antiques," jewelry, you name it and they probably have it. There's typical carnival food: corn dogs (mmm), funnel cake, curly fries, and lemon shake-ups. I'm not really sure if the lemon shake-ups are specific to the VBBQ, but they are awesome ($$)!
Summer means there are also frequent sleepovers and friends come over often. And family, and cousins (which I happen to have a lot of). And there are weddings and graduations and sometimes funerals (although those aren't specific to summer).
Our family gets to go to church and worship God together.
And summer can be hot.
It's not that miserably hot here yet, thankfully. It has been nice enough to be outside in the evenings and run through sprinklers and the bugs aren't that bad either. We can still go on bike rides and not shrivel up. The walk from car to pool isn't miserable yet. And while I keep thinking how it is going to get so hot, I enjoy every moment of right now: summer.
Summer is when things happen. Best friends move away and everyone makes plans for next year: school. I'm blessed enough to not have to move, or to not have to switch schools again before high school.
Babies are born and, for the most part, everything is happy.

And that also means that I sometimes don't get a chance to post anything here. Sorry. I'm trying, and sometimes I even think of things that would be really good to put on here, but just don't have the time. It can be busy, and God is busy too;
God is good, and He is still at work in the summer.

Whewee

Wow, I can't believe that it is almost summer already!! Sorry I rally haven't been posting much, I guess you could say that I've been busy.

Busy going places and finishing up 6th grade. Last weekend we went to the farm for mother's day (btw happy mother's day) and it was a really good time. We got to have strawberries!!! They were SO GOOOOD!!! I forgot what a real strawberry tasted like.

On the way home from that, Cassie said something really funny. "Weeell, Jesus can not tell people things because he does not have an ipod, inbestead he does not have a phone either." It was really cute.

Now she's been saying that she wants a brother. Mom said no. Cassie asked " Welll, can I have a sister?"

"You already have two sisters."

"Yeah, well, a different one. Can we buy one?"

"No, you can't just buy  a sister or brother, the have to be born."

"Well, we could go to the park and take one!"

Dnekeew a Tahw

It was a bckwards one. Well, kind of. I really just wanted to have a funny title.

I also realize I haven't posted here for a long time and I apologize. Not that you would particularly care, but even so.

This weekend my family went to Springfield for a funeral which was a lot funner than I thought it would be. We stayed at the Xock family's house for two nights; I slept on the couch. The visitation and funeral were pretty good. My dad, uncle, and Grandpa all gave speeches, and all succeded at making me cry. After the service everyone (literally, everyone) went over to my aunt's house and kind of had a party, which was good because it seemed to really cheer everyone up, especially my aunt. Cassie didn't come to the party thing afterwards because, no pun intended, it was a death party. There were peanuts, oysters, shrimp, fish, and every allergen imaginable there. That covered all of hers, so that's why she wasn't there. Especially because she just had an allergic reaction to a pancake made with eggs last last weekend, my parents decided it would be best that she didn't come to that part.

Anyway it was fun.

The Xocks were fun and very nice to let us stay at their house and eat their food. We all had a great time there.

Then when we got back on Sunday, I went to a Girl Scout babysitting class and so now I'm a pro. :{ )
So, If you need a babysitter, ask me!!

Also I learned how to make a new smiley face. :{) He has a moustache and it is awesome!!!

New favorite video

Googly awesomeness!!!

Involved doodling

So I've been doing some involved doodling lately.

I also got mixed up with the names of certain things at first.
For instance, that thing there is an ouroboros, a snake eating it's own tail. I had thought that the actual loopy design was an ouroboros. I didn't know what the actual loopy thing was until today when Fiona told me it was some sort of Celtic design like on her Irish dance dress.
The borromean rings are rings that are connected but don't actually go through one another. It's kind of hard to see there so I drew them for you.
I also drew what you could call the ouroborromean rings, just the borromean rings made out of 3 ourobori (?).
Then i made some tangled up rope/yarn and experimented with different ways of drawing rope.
I also made a one sided thing! I was going for just  a two-sided thing that crossed over itself a bunch, but instead ended up with a one sided thing with a Mobius twist (which you can't see very well here).
Then I saw I hadn't made anything using blue and since blue is already a sad color, I didn't want it to feel left out, so I made this thing.

Spring Break

I had a pretty fantastical one myself. We went to Springfield and stayed in a hotel where we got to swim and have and awesome time, got to meet my 4-week-old baby cousin, and got to have a tour of Lincoln's home! And guess what, I got to use something Lincoln himself used everyday: the handrail! And the steps! Cool huh?! :)
So then we celebrated my dad's birthday yesterday and that was fun too because we got to eat peanutbutterchocolatyawesomeness and ice cream and all kinds of deliciousness.
And now the weather is just amazing and it's kinda freaking me out, being March and all with temperatures of like 80, which is awesome.
AND just down the sidewalk we have new neighbors moving in and they have a DAUGHTER MY AGE!!! And she is very nice and I am really excited about that.
Today might have been the luckiest day ever; I found 3 FOUR-LEAF CLOVERS!!! Not even kidding a little bit. I found all of those today.

I hope everybody had an awesome spring break and is having an awesome spring!!

Favorite smells

Continued from the last post, which was about how old books smell.

Old book smell is definitely the favorite here.
After it has just rained or is just about to
Fresh laundry
The spring-y smell
And of course, cookies baking. Or anything baking. Unless it is getting burnt, in which case that is one of my least favorite smells and sounds because the smoke detector will go off. Beep.

If there's anything that will make me happy...

... it's a box of old books. The smell, the old book smell is prefered over new book smell. Like the inside of my mom's jewelry box, a very old jewelry box that was her mom's before her. A unique fragrance that is among my most favorite. It's hard to find books with a good smell these days, although I do have a few that are perfect, they were my great-grandmother's and they are Wizard of Oz and Frank Baum. I am not even joking about this, best smell ever.
Not all of these are old enough to have the right smell, but that red one there has the ideal scent... you may think I'm crazy but I bet your favorite smell is wierd too.

A Good Weekend

Had a sleepover on Friday with Fiona and Bree after choir/a cappella (which were both awesome). We had pasta for dinner and donuts for breakfast. Now I still have the many mumbling mice song stuck in my head and it is getting really annoying.
On Sunday we went to church. On Sunday afternoons, our neighbor's granddaughter (we'll call them Alice, Isaac, and Petunia) Petunia comes over and likes to play with Cassie. So we had a bubble party.
I took pictures of trees...
The sky was especially blue, don't you think?
I even got to wear my favorite shoes.
And the weather was beautiful. Perfect.

Today it was back to school. It was about an hour too long, which says something. I must have been bored or something. The people at my table are crazy.

Out of it

Out of blogging I mean, among other things. I was sick with strep throat all last week but I'm better now. I'm so excited about lots of things! For one, I'm excited about being back at school this week! I'm also really excited about friday, cause you know Friday is always good. I think I'm having a sleepover with Fiona and Bree. If that turss out it is really going to be lots of fun!!! I haven't heard back from Bree yet though so I hope she can come! I'm also excited to go back to Youth Group tomorrow. It is always so fun to see everyone there and just hang out and enjoy eachother's company. Buy what I'm REALLY excited about is my girl scout trip to the smokies this summer. I hope I don't explode with excitement before June comes around. Because you know then, I wouldn't be able to go because i would be exploded already. It's going to be so awesome!!! Not exploding, I mean the trip.

Better than Cable

I can't remember if I've said this here yet, but I often say that life at my school is better than cable. Us kids are hilarious.

Today we were washing hands in the kitchen before lunch, like we always do. One of the teachers is heating up his lunch. David is standing behind me and I hear him say, "Hey everyone, Mr. John told me his mom calls him Johnny boy."

Mr John replies playfully, "Hey, man, you said you wouldn't tell them."

"Okay, Johnny boy."

Girl Scouts

I just realized I haven't really written about this.

This summer we (Cadettes and Fiona) are going on a Big Trip to the Smokies. We have planned a lot of it at our last meeting and I am SO excited!!! Although it's a 10-hour drive, I still think even that part should be fun. We're camping in tents. We're going hiking, rafting, eeeee! it's going to be so much awesome. I absoulutely can't wait.

But right now, before that, right now, we sell cookies. And sell cookies. Does anybody want cookies?

AND today is Cassie's birthday. I can't believe she is THREE already!!!

I'd say it was a pretty awesome weekend

A long one. And a fun one.

Bree came over on Sunday. We played spoons all day. And we laughed all day. I seriously think it might be the most I've laughed at one time. It was so much fun.

When it probably would have been time for us to take her home, we called her parents and asked if she could stay. And sometimes, things just work out. It seems like those are the times that always turn out the best with and those are the times you remember. Like that one time when a pipe broke at school, we had a snow day without the snow, and since we were taking Ruth to school anyway, we just 'stole' her for the morning. Then we went over to her house (within walking distance literally around the corner) for the whole rest of the day. Anyway, to prove my point, that was last school year and I still remember it, which means something.

Anyway, we drove Bree over to her house to get her pajamas and items nessecary for a sleepover. When we got back to my house we made our own pasta (Gnocchi) from scratch for dinner. It was surprisingly easy and surprisingly tasty.

I guess in terms of sleepovers, it was pretty perfect. I love it when you just call, Zelda says, yes, she can come over, and then she ends up staying all day. And then all night. And we giggle untill we're all giggled out and get the hiccups and then because we have the hiccups, and hiccups are funny, we continue to giggle despite the fact that our sides hurt and Cassie is taking a nap and we might wake her up. The best.

Delayed Archery Post

I have no excuse for this one. I'll be honest, I've just been lazy. (sorry)

But, I did very well shooting left-handed, which I didn't think would turn out well.

Delayed Etc.

This should have been posted a few days ago but some how the draft got deleted. Arrg.

So, happy New Year! 7 days late, of course, but still. I haven't posted anything on here since last year! My year is going super so far, and I hope everyones is too.

As far as pseudonyms go, I have them all ready and will tell you now I guess. My two younger sisters are now Abilene and Cassie, listed from oldest to youngest. My parents are Chelsea and Carl. I'm still Emma, of course. So yeah.

As far as resolutions go, being a new year and all, I am going to try and read my bible every day this year, and to read the whole thing. Simple, but yet so complex, if you know what I mean. Ask me about it in 2013.

All my Would-Have-Been Christmas-Related Posts Combined into one (complete with pictures!!!)

(Chronological Order)

My cousins came over and we ate awesome sandwiches.
Grilled cheese, with fancy cheese.
It. Was. Awesome.

Then we mad puff cars. Here's whatcha do: each person/team or whatever gets 4 straws, 3 paper clips, 4 mint life savers, tape, scissors, and a sheet of paper. You have to make a wind-powered car. As in you blow it. With your mouth.

Mine didn't win, but it was hilariously fun. You know, with cousins and all.

Christmas Eve.

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care...
And the artificial fireplace was also turned on.

And in the morning,
Christmas puked in our living room.
And on my desk.

And now I have this!

But unless you are in my family or someone very awesome, you porobably have no idea what that is. It is my unstrung bow that won't be re-strung until tomorrow when I go over to Bree's house (someone very awesome. But don't feel bad if you didn't know what that is. You're still aweosme.). She has a bowstringer. And arrows.
